Ahhhh, there’s nothing quite like the good vibes of finished projects, especially ones that ultimately help advance the missions of our clients. That’s exactly how we’re feeling with the completion of our recent work for the OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital and the United Way Worldwide strategy guide.
Here’s a little snapshot of these awesome experiences.
OHSU Foundation + Doernbecher Freestyle XIX
For the past two years, Germinate Creative has worked with OHSU Foundation on a very special event and branding project called Doernbecher Freestyle—a highly-anticipated, annual project that pairs patient-designers from Doernbecher Children’s Hospital with Nike visionaries to create footwear, apparel and equipment collections, all to benefit hospital research, treatments, and better care.
Now in its 19th year, the Freestyle project needed a fresh way to introduce new footwear designs and the patients who inspired them. Germinate was tapped to provide art direction, illustration, and volumes of collateral, including social media, stickers, digital components, and a 32-page yearbook centered on the theme “I’m Possible,” which explores all that OHSU Doernbecher has made possible in the lives of the Freestyle designers.
For the collateral suite, Germinate took a curious, friendly, and playful approach to the design—using a colorful and eclectic mix of illustrations, photography, type, and a series of collages of the patient-designers to effectively capture and communicate the joy of possibility.
United Way Worldwide Strategy Guide
Long-time client United Way Worldwide Center to Combat Human Trafficking reached out to Germinate for help with their strategy guide project. The purpose of the guide was to serve as a resource for local United Ways within the United States to better understand the landscape of human trafficking, how efforts align with the United Way mission, and ways that local United Ways can build a tailored approach to combat trafficking within their communities.
Together with some of our trusted collaborators in design, illustration, production, and art direction, Germinate worked collaboratively with the client to complete a thorough, 50-page strategy guide that’s now available to everyone.
