The second installment of The Love Project comes from LEC. I am delighted to post this beautiful quote on Valentine’s Day.

A lot of people associate Valentine’s with romantic love. Some celebrate it. I feel like most people despise today as a Hallmark holiday full of sickeningly sweet chocolate and chintzy greeting cards. I get that. But, in honor of today, where we are all bombarded with red hearts and flowers and “I Love You” tattooed on teddy-bear-shaped merchandise, what if we could all take one moment to think about what love means to us? True love. Sure, it could be with a romantic partner. But it can also be with a parent. A best friend. Your favorite rock album  (Pixies Doolittle, anyone?). A favorite hike. A quiet beach along the Oregon Coast. Celebrating sobriety for 1 year. Remembering a lost friend.

Here, LEC defines how love feels to her: “Love is powerful. When someone loves you, you can name the colors in a sunset that are unnamable.”

What does love mean to you? Submit to the project and let me know.

Happy love day, everyone.
